For one of my summer reading books this year I read Never Let Me Go. It was the first summer reading book that I actually enjoyed...ever. It also made me realize that I enjoy sci-fi books a lot because of the way that it makes you (or at least me) think about the future. It's kind of scary to think of where our future is heading with the way technology is advancing. For example, in Never Let Me Go, they cloned people to be major organ donors that were basically normal human beings who had to die for other people. Now, I realize this would never happen because of the morals behind it, but something along those lines could. Seriously though, I'm scared for our children's generation and the future after that. What is going to happen to them? Technology keeps getting smarter and smarted while we are alive, whats it going to be like when our great-grandchildren are alive? Technology is going to be their whole lives... no normal toys, no playing outside, always being in peoples business with whatever crazy social media is going to be out by then. I'm aware that I'm over reacting...but think about it...it's scary.

I'm glad you like the SciFi aspect of the book. Maybe that's a genre to explore more of with your Independent Reading choices?
